We are a well established camp centrally located in the Catlins, if you are looking for tranquillity and a piece of nature rarely experienced anywhere else in New Zealand, look no further! We are situated 2.5km from Owaka which is on the Southern Scenic Route. There are two bush walks situated at Pounawea (one of which starts inside the motor camp), there is a well equipped playground close to the camp for the kids, and a very safe beach for them to play on. We also have kayaks for hire. The golf course is only 1.5km from the camp, and for the fisherman there are opportunities to hook nice sea run trout within walking distance of the camp.Birdlife is a feature of the motor camp and the surrounding estuary. The native Tui and Bellbird (komako) sing a melodious chorus which is quite unique in itself! There are the native Tomtits (miromiro) the Grey Warblers (riroriro) And large numbers of native Wood Pigeons (kukupa) both in the camp and out on the reserve.
If you venture on to the beach you will most likely encounter the migratory Godwits (kuaka) which feed in flocks on the mudflats in summer, and also Oystercatchers (torea). Other birds that you are likely to come across are; The New Zealand Kingfisher (kotare) Sandpipers, Plovers, BlackSwan, Royal Spoonbill, White faced Heron, the list goes on.
We have 37 power points available (all very well sheltered sites) There is good drinking water, toilet facilities, laundry with commercial washing machines and dryer, kitchen with gas & electric cooking, microwave ovens, and all of the other camp facilities are available to you.
There are numerous tent sites available throughout the camp, some of which overlook the estuary, and there are the beautiful native Totara trees that offer protection from the hot sun.
We have two onsite caravans, (both 4 berth) with gas cooking facilities, fridge, cold water, toaster, electric jug, heater, dishes, pots, pans.

single, no linen, with a heater
